Before and After

We waited a very long time for our 'ta-da!' moment. It wasn't quite October when the painting was finished and the scaffold came down, I admit, it was more like July, but it felt like an eternity before it was all done - partly because the painting unearthed wood rot and we had to have foot upon foot of exterior woodwork and three windows replaced. In the end we chose 'Network Grey' with Site White and the darker 'accent' (it's a whole new language I'm learning). Here are the before and after shots:

Exterior Painting: Colours

Our first big project on the house is underway; giving the exterior a lick of paint. I think you'd call this house an Italianate/Stick-style Victorian. Built in 1900. Our aim here is to reduce the amount of detail or 'accents' on the building - trying to keep it simple.

Scaffold up, while the team identify the areas with the worst wood rot we've been trying to distract ourselves from the necessity for new carpentry by picking the colour.

Here are the options:

Intellectual Gray and Shoji White
Network Gray with Site White
Gray Matters with Nebulous White
Excalibur Gray and Heaven

Who thinks up the names for these shades? And who knew there were so many shades of gray.

We've narrowed it down to these three. Pick your preference, A, B or C? Max likes B.
